Eaton Cummins Automated Transmission Technologies has added to its Endurant family of transmission series by introducing the Endurant HD V transmission.
Eaton Cummins Automated Transmission Technologies is a 50/50 joint venture between Eaton and Cummins. The global joint venture produces and markets industry-leading, heavy-duty automated transmissions for commercial vehicles.
The new transmission is designed for vocational truck applications with maximum gross combination weight ratings of 70,000 lbs (32,000 kg) using nine-liter, 11-liter, and the upcoming Cummins X10 engines. Maximum engine torque is 1,700 lbs.-ft. (2300 Nm).
The new Endurant HD V is loaded with features used around the job site, such as an extreme duty clutch for improved low-speed maneuvering, a rock-free feature to help get unstuck in mud or sand, an off-highway mode that automatically tunes the transmission for optimum performance in changing soil conditions, and dual power takeoff (PTO) openings to power hydraulic systems.
Drivers will appreciate the confident launch performance on grades thanks to its hill start aid feature, smooth shifting, and gear selection logic.
The new secondary configuration mode gives drivers the ability to toggle between two performance goals, features that optimize the transmission shift points and clutch calibration, allowing for a tailored driving experience that accounts for the load or terrain.
Features include:
- Efficient twin-countershaft design;
- Transmission fluid temperature and pressure sensor alerts driver before system damage occurs;
- Standard 8-bolt bottom and 4-bolt rear PTO-mounting locations with a combined 95 horsepower capacity;
- 250,000-mile lube change interval;
- High ratio coverage for excellent low-speed maneuverability;
- IntelliConnect remote diagnostics increases uptime by reducing unplanned downtime and quicker repair diagnosis
“The new Endurant HD V is the ideal solution for our customers looking for a reliable and capable vocational truck transmission,” said Nathan Schuler, the Executive Director, Sales, at Eaton Cummins Automated Transmission Technologies. “Features such as extreme duty clutches, off-highway performance goals, rock-free mode, and secondary configuration set it apart from the competition.”
