New from Stellar Industries Inc. of Garner, Iowa, the CDTpro (Crane Dynamics Technology Pro) with Range Finder technology is a cool tool that allows the user to gauge a crane’s capacity without having to unstow, providing increased productivity.
The CDTpro is an ergonomically-designed handheld transmitter with an over-molded rubber bumper system to maximize durability, but keep it lightweight.
It offers a full suite of feedback screens, including current load on the crane, distance to maximum capacity, and vibratory alerts to let the operator know when they are approaching maximum load capacity.

The Stellar CDTpro is the first in the mechanics crane market to offer integral capacity alert into the handheld controller displayed on an LCD screen. This system alerts the operator of increasing loads before encountering maximum capacity. This alert is performed by both visual and sensory indicators built into the Stellar handheld controller.
In addition to the LCD notifications, the vibration increases frequency in the remote to ensure the operator is aware of the approaching maximum capacity while allowing them to watch their lift
The system also features enhanced safety. If a device intended to monitor the capacity of the crane operates incorrectly, the crane will put itself into safe mode. In the safe mode, an operator will still be able to work the crane at a reduced speed to finish the job and store it until the malfunctioning device is in proper working order.
The crane will also communicate through the LCD screen to the operator if an overload safety device fault is detected.
If that’s not cool enough, an industry-first boost system on the CDTpro allows operators who reach maximum capacity to productively operate through that situation by increasing crane capacity to nearly 118% of its normal operating mode for a short period of time.
