Vermont – Green Mountain Power (GMP) is excited to partner with Lion Electric to bring two all new electric class 6 trucks to the zero-emission fleet market. If you are a service truck owner who cares about the environmental impact your vehicle has, you most certainly want to consider what GMP is releasing.
The two new trucks are bucket trucks and are expected to offset up to 100 tons of greenhouse gas emissions per year. These products solidify GMP’s mission to electrify its fleet line and have completely clean energy vehicles.
“Electrifying our heavy-duty field operations fleet to reduce carbon emissions as we travel the state keeping the lights on and building a more resilient grid is a critical next step in our work to eliminate fossil fuels from our operations,” said Mari McClure, President and Chief Executive Officer of Green Mountain Power.
The bucket truck will create mass savings for users with less cost on fuel and on maintenance. Additionally, the bucket trucks auxiliary systems are powered completely by the vehicle’s battery pack, eliminating emissions and noise pollution.
The trucks hold its own on helping drivers go the distance. On a single full charge, the vehicle manages a range of 130 miles for the line truck, and 200 miles for the stake truck.
The companies are excited about the positive impact the vehicles will have on the planet, and the inspiration the vehicles can spark in the market.
“As a clean-energy leader, Vermont is a great example of how to integrate sustainable energy and electrified transportation, which is key to creating a successful sustainable society and economy in the future,” said Marc Bedard, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Lion Electric.
The first new truck is expected to be delivered in the first quarter of 2022, with the second coming several months later in the summer of 2022.
