It’s always nice to be on the road.
ORO Design, a family-owned and operated manufacturing company, recently participated at the 2022 National Heavy Equipment Show in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada held March 31 - April 1, 2022.
Located in Oro-Medonte, Ontario, ORO Design is a manufacturer of custom-designed truck bodies.
Getting its start in 2003 constructing its first truck body within a residential garage, the manufacturer now operates out of a 30,000-square-foot industrial complex and now counts over 1,800 truck bodies for very satisfied customers.
The National Heavy Equipment Show, like most trade events across North America, had been stymied by Covid-19 safety protocols, but this year’s event was something the folks at ORO Design were looking forward to more than ever.
Melinda Smith, Marketing Manager at ORO Design called her company’s experience at the show a very good experience.
“The last show we attended was in 2019,” she explained, “but this year’s event had attendance numbers on par with pre-pandemic levels.
“Everyone was eager to do business again the old-fashioned way, so that was kind of nice.”
One of the things she noticed from walking through the show, was that although the presence of the big equipment dealers remained a constant, there were many new faces participating, “A bit of surprise because there’s not usually too much turnover.”
Smith chalked it up to perhaps some people moving on during the pandemic, but said it was also encouraging to see new people entering the field.
A new constant for 2022, Smith explained, was the industry-wide complaint regarding rolling shortages of equipment and materials, a complaint discussed with fervor amongst the trade show’s exhibitors.
“Not much we can do, so we just deal with it as it happens.”
For ORO Design, picking the battles it can win while maintaining its easy-going attitude has helped it continue its day-to-day focus on quality, craftsmanship and design—all of which helps the Canadian company draw new customers and maintain older ones with what the company calls its own unique truck bodies, different from anything else available in the market.
Said Smith that as a Canadian manufacturer of service truck bodies, ORO Design knows that its customers demand a product capable of performing within the coldest, hottest, and harshest of environments.
It’s why ORO Design manufactures truck bodies that can be used for decades, and when required easily retrofitted or rebuilt per the customer’s specifications.
