Isuzu Commercial Truck of America, Inc. has delivered its NRR-EV medium-duty trucks to Red Bull North America and has already been on the road to deliver beverage products throughout Southern California.
It’s a significant milestone for Isuzu and the medium-duty truck industry. With the advancement of powertrain technologies, collaboration on the body upfit, planning of routes, zero-emission deliveries, and sustainability in the medium-duty segment are underway.
While you won’t be able to drive it as fast as Red Bull F-1 race driver Max Verstappen, the NRR-EV Class 5 truck (see photo above) has a 100-kWh powertrain with an estimated range of about 100 miles under full payload, though the range does vary based on driving style, use of the cab’s comfort features, and use of the adjustable regenerative braking system.
This vehicle’s braking system recharges the battery with energy captured when the truck is coasting or slowing down. With a lightweight, all-aluminum 6-bay beverage body, the vehicle’s design maintains its cargo capacity. The NRR-EV’s 19,500 lbs. The Class 5 GVWR provides a hefty payload of around 9,000 lbs. with this body.
The NRR-EV embodies Isuzu’s commitment to delivering excellence and pushing the boundaries of what is possible in the commercial vehicle industry. With its advanced technology, impressive styling, and electric powertrain, the Isuzu NRR-EV is, according to the company, set to redefine the driving and ownership experience for North American customers.
Shaun Skinner, President and Chief Executive Officer of Isuzu Commercial Truck of America, is enthusiastic about this milestone. “Today marks a major milestone for the industry and for us. Watching the NRR-EV evolve from a concept to a viable operating product is a big deal. Our teams and our clients have put so much time and effort into making this happen, and it speaks to our teamwork and dedication to more sustainable transportation solutions. It is no longer just a plan; we have zero-emission trucks serving our customers’ needs.”
Isuzu commercial trucks have been the best-selling low cab forward trucks in America every year since 1986. Headquartered in Anaheim, California, Isuzu Commercial Truck of America is the distributor of Isuzu commercial vehicles in the US and is a subsidiary of Isuzu Motors Limited, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of medium- and heavy-duty trucks.
