Monroe Trucking Equipment Inc., headquartered in Monroe, Wisconsin and with seven other locations in the US, has been acquired by the Swiss firm, Aebi (AB) Schmidt Group.
Monroe has 900 employees, manufacturing vehicle bodies for the service truck (see accompanying image), commercial vehicle, and municipal truck sector.
Monroe will continue to be operated under current American leadership and maintain its brand, but will now have access to its parent’s European customer base, especially in regard to its winter equipment such as snowplows.
Founded in 1883, Aebi Schmidt Group is headquartered in Frauenfeld, Switzerland. Including the Aebi brand, it also owns other brands from a swathe of European companies, including: Arctic; ELP, Schmidt, Nido, Swenson, Myer, and MB, which combined manufacture municipal and agriculture machinery.
Peter Schuhler, Chairman of the Aebi Schmidt Board of Directors said: “We are delighted to have acquired Monroe. The acquisition provides an excellent starting point for further development for the team.
“Above all, Monroe will strengthen our vital winter business,” Schuhler continued.
With the acquisition, the Aebi Schmidt group could also significantly strengthen its position in the US.
“It gives us better access to services and customers,” noted Schuhler.
