British Columbia – Vicinity Motor Corp has announced the launch of its all-new Class 3 medium duty electric truck, the VMC 1200.
The latest addition to the company’s product line is powered by a 150 kWh Li-Ion battery, the electric vehicle, intended for commercial use, can take users up to 150 miles distance on a single charge. The vehicle can fully charge from a level 3 EV fast charger in 2.5 hours, and from a standard level 2 charger in double the time.
The electrical powertrain holds up to 150kWh of power and 800 lb-ft. of torque. Those looking to do some lifting with the vehicle can expect it to hold a maximum of 6,000lbs. The vehicle also includes a high-back comfort seat, keyless entry, air conditioning, power windows and door locks, seating for three, and the versatility of the battery being used as an on-site power source.
The company, which specializes in manufacturing electric, CNG, gasoline, and clean diesel vehicles (previously only buses) emphasized customer flexibility with the trucks operational use. The team wanted to make the trucks design suited for urban environments, along with construction, delivery applications, and it should be great for service truck applications as well.
William Trainer, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Vicinity Motor Corp, spoke on the timing of the release. “With our final design specifications in place, the VMC 1200 can now be ordered by our robust network of existing dealerships throughout North America.”
“Production of the vehicles is underway and commercial deliveries are scheduled to commence in the first quarter of 2022,” Trainer said.
With orders already exceeding expectations, the company is excited to produce more units next year and help the transportation industry reduce costs, eliminate carbon emissions, and run a more efficient fleet.
