Although presented on a broader scale by MSN.com, this actual data analysis was presented by Filterbuy.
The company recently compiled some data based upon an analysis of the US Census Bureau’s recent Small Business Pulse Survey regarding supply chain disruptions and their effect—the 15 states being hurt the most.
Supply chain disruptions have hit virtually every corner of industry, and every corner of the globe. Here in North America, we have gone from a society of waste and abundance to one where we struggle to afford even the basics of groceries thanks to inflation, or even fuel to drive to work.
Within the trucking and service truck industries there are multiple battles regarding supply chain disruption—be it 2021’s rubber for tires, 2022’s metal for tire rims (we can get rubber now), the ever-present shortage of heavy truck technicians, steel for the construction of new service truck vehicles—as noted by manufacturers, and… yes, replacement parts to get the vehicles back on the road in a timely fashion.
While some have opted to horde parts and or materials where possible, others see this reserve of goods as trade bait, using it to barter for items they need to keep their client base—the trucking industry—reasonably happy.
This shortage of parts et al, has caused some fleets to avoid previously scheduled maintenance dates—why take a truck off the road if there are no materials available for its maintenance? If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Until it’s broken. Then fix it as quickly as you can.
Although the Filterbuy relaying of data into the 15 states worst hit by supply chain issues isn’t specific to the service truck industry, we hope you will find the data tantalizing.
All calculations reflect the percentages for small businesses (fewer than 500 employees), and that unless otherwise stated, compute the average of all weekly survey responses from Jan. 3, 2022, through April 17, 2022, and represent the typical share of businesses experiencing the respective disruption during that period.
